Mental health in schools: an introduction to mental health leadership

Part of a series of free webinars on mental health leadership in educational settings

Thursday 20 October 2022: 4 – 5pm

In this free webinar on Thursday 20 October 2022, we’ll share the role school leaders can play in ensuring good mental health and wellbeing – for children, young people and staff.

You’ll hear about the eight principles behind implementing a whole school approach to mental health, the NICE recommendations for social, emotional and mental wellbeing support in schools (SEMH), and guidelines for supporting mental health in educational settings. By the end of the webinar, you’ll leave with helpful links and answers to get you started on your journey to a healthier and happier school or college.

Who is this webinar for?

This free webinar is suitable for leaders working in a range of educational settings, who have an interest in mental health and wellbeing. You might be a headteacher, a member of the school senior management team, a designated mental health lead, governor or SENCo. If you know someone who might be interested, please do share this event with them.

This event is part of a webinar series. As well as this introductory webinar, we’re also running webinars that’ll explore challenges unique to your setting – whether you’re working in an early years setting, primary school or secondary school. Learn more about the series.

Interested in exploring school mental health and wellbeing further?

The Digital Academy’s Senior mental health lead training will help you develop a personalised plan that will allow you to influence, promote and embed a whole school or college approach to positive mental health and wellbeing.

Hosted online, you’ll learn at your own pace through a combination of interactive learning elements, case studies and live sessions. And, if you work in an eligible state-funded school or college in England, you can receive funding for this course from the Department for Education – meaning your costs will be covered.
