Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  1. Some videos do not have captions or text transcripts and most videos that do have captions, the captions are often open and cannot be turned off which is not best practice.
  2. Some images contain text which cannot be read by screen readers
  3. There are numerous PDFs and Word Documents that are not accessible

Plan to address these issues

  1. We are in the process of reviewing our existing videos with the aim of adding closed captions to them in due course. All new videos will have closed captions as standard.
  2. This only occurs in a few instances and we aim to review this content to see if there is a more accessible method of displaying the information.
  3. We aim to remove where we can all PDF and Word documents from the site as and when they are reviewed following NHS Digital best practice.
