Senior Educational Psychologist

Dr Janchai King is a Senior Educational Psychologist working in the London borough of Barnet’s Educational Psychology Team, and as an academic and professional tutor at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.

Prior to her doctoral training in ‘Child, community and educational psychology’ at the Tavistock and Portman, she worked in a child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) and also held a research role at The Anna Freud Centre for children and families.

She has a particular interest in mental health and wellbeing and currently is a course module lead for the Tavistock and Portman’s Senior Mental Health Lead Training. She highly values multi-agency ways of working when supporting children and families and established the embedding of an Educational Psychologist within Barnet Youth Justice Service (YJS). Her thesis focused on the voice of young people engaging with YJS and she has recently published around voice practices undertaken in the YJS.

She has engaged in and facilitated supervision with;

– Educational Psychologists in training both as a personal/tutor supervisor and as a placement supervisor
– Educational Psychologists in a local authority Educational Psychology Team
– Colleagues in schools including Teachers, Senior Leaders and Designated Safeguarding Leads, offering both individual and group supervision
– Colleagues working in multi-agency teams
– Group supervision with EPs engaging in multi-agency project work
