Maria Wedlock

Senior Lecturer

Maria is Senior Lecturer and a main grade Educational Psychologist. She is alumni of the Tavistock training programme, and her doctoral research was on inter-professional supervision with Educational Psychologists.

Previously, Maria qualified as a teacher and taught Mathematics in inner London secondary schools before going on to train Mathematics teachers abroad. She also tutored children not attending school before working as a Psychology Assistant.

Maria has also supported the development of the Tavistock and Portman online training course for Senior Mental Health Leads (DAB005).

  • Doctorate in Child Community and Educational Psychology – Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust / University of Essex
  • PGCE Mathematics – University of Exeter
  • BSc Psychology – University of Exeter

  • “My dreams now have colour”: An exploration of young homeless people’s experiences of the ‘Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope’ (PATH).
  • Reflecting Teams In Practice: Educational psychologists’ experiences of using reflecting teams as part of their doctoral training.
  • The paradox of using trauma informed practices in mainstream schools: a psycho-social exploration of educators’ experiences
  • A mixed methods study of factors that support Educational Psychologist’s confidence when working with children and young people with acquired brain injury.
