Bursary for the ‘Emotional care of babies, children, young people and families (EC1)’ course

The purpose of this bursary, which can be awarded to two students, is to support widening access to this course for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic students who are at the early stages of exploring or developing a professional career working with children, young people or families.

Applicant criteria
Successful applicants must:
- identify as Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic
- consider that they would find it difficult to cover the course fees without the support of a bursary
- have a commitment to social justice and addressing inequity in children’s emotional development and mental health
- have been accepted for year one of Emotional care of babies, children, young people and families (EC1) and be starting the course in 2023
- not already be in receipt of financial support through the training skills escalator
Application process
The successful applicant will need to show (in the application form and interview) their thinking about the way their learning on the course could help them make a positive contribution to children’s emotional development and mental health in their community and/or working role.
Applications will be assessed by an appointed panel including an associate dean and Trust education portfolio manager. Decisions are based on the quality of the application and the outcome of an interview process. Panel decisions are final.
For the successful applicants, the bursary will meet the cost of the course fees up to the graduate diploma qualification, as well as provide mentoring throughout the duration of the course.
