Penny Hazelwood

Professional Lead for Public Health Nursing

Penny is the Professional Lead for Public Health Nursing 0-19 in Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire at Sirona care & health. Penny has been working in her current role for 18 months and is currently leading a service transformation across Public Health Nursing, a service which is provided to all families with children aged 0-19. The framework chosen to facilitate this transformation and culture change is the THRIVE Framework.
In the past, Penny has worked in different health and education roles, including an early years teacher and a midwife. As Head of Health Visiting in South Gloucestershire, Penny led a 5 year service transformation that resulted in improved performance. A new approach was embedded in working with children and families which involved all staff working fully in partnership with parents, within a whole service shift from working within a medical model to a bio psycho-social model. She is passionate about reducing health inequality, particularly by ensuring that the public health nursing service is truly accessible to a universal population including the most vulnerable in society.
