Enrolment for new students

Information and steps to take before starting your studies with us

Before you start your course with us you will be asked to complete enrolment online, via your MyTAP portal. It is essential you enrol as soon as you can so that enrolment can be completed when you come to your course induction in welcome week.

1. Enrol as soon as you can

Once you have been made and accepted an Unconditional offer of study, we will contact you via email and invite you to complete enrolment via your MyTap portal.

A: Terms and conditions

You have been sent the terms and conditions for studying at the Trust with your offer letter and will be asked to accept the terms and conditions as part of the first stage of your enrolment.

B: Personal details

If you need help with this section, please watch our video regarding Updating your contact details including presenting your identification.

C: Paying fees

If you need help with this section, please watch our video regarding Sponsorship and fees

(Fees under £650 or sponsor invoices are not eligible for the instalment option.)

Once you have completed enrolment, you will have access to your financial information via your MyTap portal. This will include:-

D: Cancellation and breaking your studies

E: Refunds and charges

Please see information on refunds and charges.

2. If your course requires a DBS check

If you are completing a placement or observation as part of your studies with you, you will require a Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) to be in place before you can start any clinical activity.

If you have a DBS with your employer or from another organisation, we can accept this to pass your check, as long as it was issued within the last 3 years and the level of check meets the requirements of the course you are studying with us on. For e.g., if you already have an enhanced DBS checks with adult barring list, but you are joining a course where you are working with children, we will not be able to accept this. If you are joining a course where you are working with adults, we can.

We can accept your current DBS if it is registered with the online update service, as long as it meets the required level for the course. We will need to see the original copy of your registered DBS certificate at a face to face meeting with a member of the course administration team, where you will need to provide your date of birth, 12 digit certificate number and permission for us to access your DBS online.

If you need us to complete a new DBS application on your behalf, you will need to attend a meeting with us over the summer. Further details are on the way as to how to arrange this. In the meantime, please start to gather your documentation thereto.

You can find further details of the documentation that can be accepted for your DBS check at the Gov.uk website by following this link: DBS documentation guidance. Please make sure you have the original copies of your documentation available ahead of your meeting with us.

If you are unsure as to whether you need a DBS check for your course, please contact us at academichub@tavi-port.nhs.uk.

3. If your course requires a placement

If your course involves a placement and you are having difficulty sourcing one, please contact academichub@tavi-port.ac.uk in the first instance.

4. Shibboleth log-in for online Library services and Moodle

You will be emailed your Shibboleth log-in in mid-September, which will enable you to log-on to the Library’s online services and gain general access to Moodle, our online learning environment. Please contact the Library Library@tavi-port.ac.uk if you have any Shibboleth queries or the Digital Education Services (DES) team on digitaleducation@tavi-port.ac.uk for Moodle queries.

5. Attend Welcome Week: Monday 22 – Saturday 27 September 2025

Welcome Week is about preparing for the start of your studies with an induction, meeting your fellow students and staff and completing some essential administrative and governance tasks.

Welcoming everyone

We are committed to equality of opportunity – and we aim to make sure our students and staff are treated respectfully and regardless of difference.  In our clinical practice, teaching and research, we are committed to inclusivity and excellence and your learning experience will be grounded in these principles.

Attend the clinical induction (clinical courses only)

New students on clinical programmes of study will be required to undertake clinical checks and inductions as part of the Trust’s governance passport, prior to starting your clinical work at the Trust. The clinical induction will take place in person at the Trust during Welcome Week 2025 on Thursday 25th September 2025 and is mandatory. Further details will be confirmed nearer the time.

6. Need help?

If you need any help throughout the enrolment process, please contact the Academic Hub: academichub@tavi-port.nhs.uk as they will be your first point of contact.

7. Re-enrolment (all courses)

Please note that you will be required to repeat the enrolment process at the start of each subsequent academic year. Please ensure you do enrol promptly each year.
