This course is for qualified child and adolescent psychotherapists practicing in the UK who are responsible for supervision in their CAMHS service or in education, social care or the voluntary sector.

Aims and learning objectives
This course will provide:
- greater clarity about role, task and responsibilities of the supervisor and supervisee and other stakeholders within different kinds of supervision
- increased confidence in supervision task- following material, and technical issues
- extension in understanding of the interpersonal and projective processes which impact on the transference and countertransference in clinical work and the dynamics of supervision
- extension of reflective skills
- increased knowledge and learning through reading and discussing literature on supervision

This course will be delivered remotely using Zoom and the sessions will not be recorded.
You will need a device with a microphone and camera together with a suitably fast internet connection. Although mobile devices and tablets can be used, we recommend the use of a laptop or desktop PC for the best experience. Some devices provided by employers may have restrictions in place. The emphasis in the White Paper on Early Years provision, forensic CAMHS, IAPT in CAMHS suggests that there is a need to increase the provision of supervision. Child psychotherapists are often requested to offer supervision of one-to-one direct work to other child psychotherapists and CAMHS and other professionals. This course provides an opportunity to further develop supervisory skills and competencies.
The course aims to look at some of the literature on supervision and to use presentations given in turn by the participants to draw out some of the issues which arise in supervision.
A further aim is to develop a reflective, non-judgmental atmosphere in which to think about the meaning of the setting, the clinical material and to enable the clinician to feel supported in developing an understanding of their work and technical issues.
