Shona Grant
Senior Lecturer
Shona’s career in health and social care started in 1994 as a support worker. After a move to the NHS in 1997 they went on to train as a Learning Disability Nurse and Social Worker, qualifying in 2001.
Shona’s first role was in Cambridgeshire, where they developed a particular interest in transitions and safeguarding. This continued after a move to Highland where they had the opportunity to continue their studies and professional development in working with people who had experienced sexual violence and the impact on children with a parent with a mental health issue. Shona also worked with children and their families where there were experiences of harm; in fostering and adoption, and with young people leaving care.
After a move to Essex in 2007, Shona worked with children and their families in the locality until they joined The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust in 2020 after qualifying as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, where they now work as a Senior Lecturer in the Systemic Discipline.
Throughout their career Shona has been committed to learning, teaching and encouraging the professional development of others, through mentoring, tutoring, practice education and ensuring that space is held for learning and development in order to support best practice and high-quality service delivery.
