Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

Dr Peter Slater is a child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapist, an adult psychotherapist and is the course lead for the hugely popular Introduction to counselling and psychotherapy courses at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Slater undertakes clinical work with the Harley Therapy Clinic in central London, and has worked for a number of years in CAMHS settings in Kent and London as a highly specialist child and adolescent psychoanalytic
psychotherapist. He was also Senior Lecturer and Programme Lead for the master’s programme in ‘Child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy’ at Auckland University, New Zealand.

Dr Slater has published articles in the Journal of Child Psychotherapy, Journal of Psychotherapy of New Zealand, Aotearoa and more recently contributed to a chapter on anxiety in the IntechOpen book on ‘Psychopathology: an international and interdisciplinary perspective.’ Dr Slater is a full member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
