Cutting edge systemic offerings: book launch of The Handbook of Systemic Family Therapy

The Systemic Portfolio at The Tavistock Centre, London, is delighted to host the international launch of The Handbook of Systemic Family Therapy.

20 October 2022, 3 to 5.30pm, online

Join us in welcoming and celebrating this significant contribution to our thinking and practice as we discuss the next steps for the field of systemic family therapy. We will hear from The Handbook of Systemic Family Therapy’s associate editors, authors, and other scholars.

A first of its kind resource for clinicians, researchers, educators, graduate students, and policymakers, this authoritative four-volume handbook is a ground-breaking reference work on both the profession and the practice of systemic family therapy.

Dr. Tracy Todd, CEO of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (responsible for sponsoring The Handbook), Dr. Richard S. Wampler (retired professor, author, and husband of the late Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Karen S. Wampler), and Ms. Esther Usiskin Cohen (Systemic Lead at the Tavistock Centre) will open the discussion.

One unique aspect of The Handbook is the contributions of authors who bring multinational perspectives, and chapters that speak to family issues from a broad lifespan and global perspective. The panels embody these two unique themes: Systemic Approaches to Change and Loss Across the Family Life Cycle and Global Mental Health.

Amongst the range of eminent scholars and editors contributing to both panels, we are privileged to have Dr. Ivan Eisler, Emeritus Professor King’s College London, Joint Head Maudsley Centre for Child Adolescent Eating Disorders, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, who will be speaking about his pioneering work in the field of eating disorders and Dr. Timothy Sim, professor at the Singapore University of Social Sciences who contributed two chapters about training, research and the development of the field of systemic family therapy, beyond Euro-American perspectives.
