Systemic and family psychotherapist

Nsimire Aimee Bisimwa is a highly specialist systemic and family psychotherapist working at the Tavistock centre in the child, young adults and families service. She leads on refugee work in the Tavistock family mental team and co-chairs a monthly refugee hub forum.

She has more than 20 years of experience working with refugees and involuntarily displaced people, including working in refugee camps as a medical doctor. She is also a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and is involved in teaching in the Directorate of Education and Training at the Tavistock centre.

She lectures and leads the Refugee care (M35) MA course run in association with Essex University. Moreover, she promotes community culturally sensitive approaches and anti-oppressive practices in her work.
