New monthly research workshops

Workshops on Wednesdays will provide informal support to researchers at The Tavistock and Portman and University of Essex.

The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex are co-hosting a new series of online Workshops on Wednesdays, open to all postgraduate students and members of staff.

Taking place from 1.00pm to 2.00pm on one Wednesday of every month, these free, online workshops will address some of the academic, emotional and practical challenges that students may face while undertaking research. Each session will focus on a specific topic, incorporating presentations from members of staff, contributions from our student community, and time for questions, reflection and discussion.

In providing more opportunities to come together as a community throughout the academic year, we hope to help all our students to thrive in their studies and meet other researchers who share an interest in our psychosocial and psychoanalytic fields.

Advanced practice and research: social work and social care (D55) course lead, Dr Louise Grant, has been instrumental in establishing the new workshops. She said: “We are really excited to launch this initiative with our colleagues from the University of Essex. We think it will provide an invaluable opportunity for students at all stages of their research, whether at Master’s or Doctorate level, to meet up informally to learn in a supportive environment.”

For the details of each session, upcoming dates and joining information, students and members of staff at The Tavistock and Portman can visit the Research Events: Workshops on Wednesdays page via My Student Community on Moodle.
