Laura Kelly

Senior Lecturer

Laura is an Educational Psychologist working in an inner London borough, and alumni of the Tavistock training programme. She has a strong interest in community psychology, systems-psychodynamic theories, and utilising participatory and child-centred practices, which she draws upon in her Youth Justice specialism. She is a keen advocate for practitioner EPs engaging with research and increasing research literacy in Local Authority practice. In addition to her EP role, Laura is an Associate Lecturer in Childhood and Youth Studies, and Child Psychology undergraduate programmes, having taught for over 10 years. She has consulted on new module development. Laura gained her Fellowship of the Higher Education Authority (FHEA) in 2023. She is a peer reviewer for the British Psychological Society’s Education and Child Psychology journal and is a reviewing panel member on a Local Authority Ethics Committee.

Outside of her working life, Laura is a committee member for a charity providing games-based therapeutic interventions. She has recently been appointed as the lead for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within the children’s subcommittee of the charity. Prior to EP training, Laura worked in a range of roles, including as an Assistant Psychologist in an EPS and CAMHS, a Research Assistant in a joint commissioned Mental Health and Public Health project, and has prior experience working in community and inpatient roles in Adult Mental Health Services.
