Julia Jude

Systemic psychotherapist

Julia Jude holds a BA in Social Science, an MA in Systemic Family Therapy, a Diploma in Group Analytical Psychotherapy and a Professional Doctorate in Systemic Practice. Julia’s professional journey weaves together roles as an artist, systemic therapist, supervisor, consultant, tutor and filmmaker, underpinned by a strong commitment to social justice and equality. Julia’s work is deeply informed by black studies, poetics and critical theory, and she approaches these themes through an anticolonial black feminist lens. Julia is especially interested in the intersections of slavery, Caribbean and African American literature and cultural history, gender, queer theory, race, indigenous cosmology and new materialism. In her research, Julia explores varied themes, including institutional violence, creating spaces for marginalised voices and disability. She is also passionate about using art, film, dance/movement and multimedia as innovative research methodologies that expand how knowledge is both created and shared.
