Child, Adolescent and Family Psychodynamic Psychotherapist

Esther Obiri-Darko spent over 20 years working in education before moving into psychotherapy, bringing with her a deep understanding of the emotional and developmental needs of children, young people, and families. She has worked across schools, community settings, private practice, and the NHS. Her clinical practice is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy and informed by systemic thinking.

Esther works therapeutically with children and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and mental health difficulties, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and relational challenges. Her work includes parent-child work, bereavement groups, family support, and multidisciplinary collaboration with schools, social workers, and other professionals around the child. Including working with Adoption Services, supporting children and families in the context of adoption and related experiences of loss, attachment, and transition. She has particular interests in culture, diversity, development, and the ways these shape mental health and therapeutic work.

Esther’s teaching is informed by her clinical experience and shaped by a commitment to creating reflective spaces where students can explore ideas and deepen their understanding of therapeutic work with children, young people, and families.
