Dr Gillian Hughes
Clinical Psychologist and Systemic Psychotherapist
Dr Gillian Hughes is a Clinical Psychologist and Systemic Psychotherapist, currently working as a trainer and family therapist at the Prudence Skynner NHS Clinic in London. She has worked in both CAMHS and adult services and has specialised in work with refugees and asylum seekers both in the NHS (leading the Refugee Service at the Tavistock Centre) and charity sector (at Freedom from Torture). She co-founded the Refugee Resilience Collective, a project offering psychological support to refugees and volunteers in the camps in Northern France. She is particularly interested in narrative practices, community approaches and liberation psychology, and co-edited with Taiwo Afuape Liberation Practices: Towards emotional wellbeing through dialogue (2016).
