The library at the Tavistock Centre has a variety of separate spaces and facilities to help you study, work and research

Finding the library

The library is on the ground floor of the Tavistock Centre with multiple spaces for you to use. Any of our library spaces are available to current students, all Trust staff, current TSP members and paid individual or group members. Find out about our library opening times.

Using the library spaces

Main library space

  • Library enquiry desk
  • Variety of seated study desks where you can use your own devices
  • Two height-adjustable desks with PCs
  • Comfy chairs for more leisurely reading 
  • PCs for searching the catalogue 
  • Print collections for Research Methods, Study Skills, comics, novels and poetry 
  • New books and the latest print journal issues 
  • DVD collection  
  • Quiet conversation only in this area

Group Study Pods

  • Choose from a two-seater or four-steater pod
  • Prioritised for group work, not solo study
  • Sound-reduction to allow discussion
  • Priority given to students
  • Contact the library to book for up to two hours

John Bowlby Room

  • PCs with Microsoft Office software 
  • Study desks
  • Printer/copier
  • Large presentation screen
  • Print journals for browsing
  • Quiet conversation only in this area

Silent Study Space

  • Main book collection  
  • Six study desks
  • Two armchairs with side tables
  • Switch off audio and alerts on all devices

Student Work Space

  • Located separately from the main library, just off the student lobby area near the ground-floor lifts
  • Three PCs with Microsoft Office
  • Printer/copier
  • Spaces to use your own laptop with the option to connect your device to a monitor, keyboard and mouse
