The library has developed resources and training to take you through all stages of the literature search process
Library information skills Moodle course
Staff and students can self-enrol on a library information skills course on Moodle. Units 3 and 4 of the course focus on effective search strategies and perfecting your search. After completing these units you will be able to:
- identify and combine appropriate search terms for research topics
- apply filters and fields to refine your search results
- use truncation, wildcards and quotation marks to expand your search results
- search for each concept of your research topic separately
- combine your searches to create a complex search
- consult the thesaurus to find synonyms/related terms for your keywords
- save, access and retrieve articles and your searches
Training sessions
Group training sessions on literature searching are available from our information skills librarian. One-to-one sessions are available to staff and students who have registered a disability or learning difficulties with the Trust. Find out more on our information skills page.
