Two Students Talking in Tavistock Centre Corridor

Welcome Week

Get ready to start your studies with us

Welcome Week takes place immediately before the start of a new academic year. It’s an opportunity to meet your fellow students and members of staff, engage in a range of induction activities, and complete essential enrolment, administrative and mandatory governance tasks. There is also an opportunity to find out more about the Trust, join a number of student trainee groups and gain any additional support you might need.

Welcome Week 2025 will take place from Monday 22 September to Saturday 27 September 2025. Students are asked to attend the whole day when they are due to meet with their programme. Once you arrive, make your way to the welcome desk (ground floor) and you will receive your schedule for the day. We have online and in-person events throughout the week. We welcome all students to attend as many activities across the week as they would like.

If you have any queries, please contact academichub@tavi-port.nhs.uk.

Set in Alexandra, a group of mothers are on a mission to change the fate of their neighbourhood, right from the beginning. Through a series of intimate, and at times, uncomfortable, conversations, 1001 DAYS follows the journey of health-workers Zanele, Thandiwe and Khosi. These three mothers from the heart of the community, observe and support hundreds of new mothers, during some of their happiest–and lowest–moments. Their aim: to help new mothers during the first 1001 days of their babies’ lives.

These conferences are a crucial element of many courses at the Tavistock and Portman and a unique opportunity for anyone interested in groups and their place in them.
