Congratulations to our 2025 graduates
Celebrating our 2025 graduates at The People’s Palace, London
On Thursday 11 September, our 2025 graduation ceremony took place at The People’s Palace, Queen Mary University in London. With colleagues joining us from the Universities of Essex and East London, and hundreds of graduands receiving awards, it was a day of celebration and recognition.
Our Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Mark Freestone, opened the ceremony, while our CEO Michael Holland delivered the welcome address.
Michael highlighted how the celebration was not only about our graduate’s academic triumphs but also the personal growth and perseverance that have marked their journey to this momentous occasion.
Michael also introduced our two new honorary graduates, each receiving a Honorary Doctorate degree marking their contribution to the Tavistock and the field of psychotherapy.
The first honorary doctorate was awarded to Tim Dartington, who has had a long and distinguished career as an organisational consultant, researcher, writer, teacher, group relations specialist and professional leader in the field of applied systems-psychodynamics.
The second was awarded to Guilaine Kinouani, who has made a significant contribution both academically and clinically in opening up the psychodynamic approach to a wider audience, particularly those from marginalised groups and people of colour.
Dean of Postgraduate Studies Mark Freestone highlighted the importance and unique educational offering we provide to help build an NHS fit for the future.
“The embedding of our courses in an NHS mental health provider helps us to be responsive to the needs of both today’s workforce and employers, supporting the demands in delivering the best care to patients, families, and communities. It is vital that the mental wellbeing workforce of the future looks more like the people it serves, and we need to continue to make our opportunities and environment more inclusive so that we can widen access to professionals from underrepresented groups.”
We wish all our graduates the very best as they embark on the next stages of their academic and professional journeys.
