Our work in this area
Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are intrinsic to all areas of course leadership and professional services at the Tavistock and Portman. We have a dedicated team whose specific brief is to work with all staff in the Directorate of Education and Training to address EDI issues at every level of course design and delivery.
Our courses commit not only to identifying and addressing discriminatory practice, but also to increasing the representation of staff and students from minority groups. We welcome and value students from all social class backgrounds, different cultures, faiths and traditions, and we believe that diverse ways of thinking enrich our teaching and learning.
Student and trainee groups
Facilitated by members of staff, these groups provide an opportunity for students and trainees to meet each other and share experiences in a safe and friendly environment:
- LGBTQIA+ student and trainee group
- Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic / Global Majority student and trainee group
- Disabled student and trainee group
- International student and trainee group
Bursaries
As part of our commitment to becoming a more inclusive education provider, we are delighted to offer a number of bursaries to new students from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic / Global Majority backgrounds, who qualify for Home fees status.
