Student on Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Wellbeing: Multidisciplinary Practice (ED24, online)

“The course has had a profound impact on me both professionally and personally. One of the best ways I can describe it is that it has given me a new lens through which to view the world; once you have put those glasses on, it is very difficult to take them off! The learning has fundamentally changed the way I think, not only in my professional role but also in everyday life. Professionally, it has transformed how I approach my work with clients. My discussions in supervision have become richer and more reflective, and I have found myself drawing on Tavistock ideas to gently challenge established ways of working and illuminate alternative perspectives for colleagues. This has led to some fascinating conversations, and many of my colleagues have commented on the changes they have seen in me, particularly in the way I think, the questions I ask, and the positions I choose to hold and reflect upon in my practice. On a personal level, the experience has been equally transformative. The course has encouraged a level of introspection that has been both challenging and rewarding. While this self-reflection is essential for developing as a practitioner, it has also been invaluable for my own personal growth. Looking back on the year, I genuinely feel like an enhanced version of myself, and I am incredibly grateful for that.

I have also been struck by the depth and breadth of the syllabus; despite having completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology and working as an Assistant Psychologist, I have been introduced to theories, concepts, and perspectives that were entirely new to me. The blend of theoretical and experiential learning makes each teaching day feel varied, engaging, and enriching. Alongside this, the diverse professional and personal backgrounds within my cohort have led to incredibly rich discussions and reflections, offering valuable multidisciplinary perspectives.”
