Student on Family and Systemic Psychotherapy Supervision (M21)
“To be honest I thought the Tavistock was world-renowned but not for people like me. I did my Systemic Psychotherapy (M6) training here first and I liked it. So, when I wanted to train as a systemic supervisor, coming back felt like the obvious choice.
The group is really diverse, and everyone is supportive. The lecturers are brilliant, but they are also human. They will push you and then check in with you afterwards.
I most enjoyed our Supervision of Supervision (SOS) sessions. I could bring the things I was actually struggling with and think them through with others. At first, it felt strange hearing the group talk about my dilemma, but it was really freeing. I also did not expect it to feel so warm. I thought it would be formal and intimidating, but it is collaborative. We are all figuring it out together. Sitting listening and hearing other people make sense of what I brought really changed how I learn. I walk out of those sessions feeling clearer. I am slower now; I ask more; and I can sit with not knowing.
If you are wondering if studying Family and Systemic Psychotherapy Supervision (M21) at the Tavistock is for you, it is. Say yes. It is hard work but rewarding, both personally and professionally. Take your uncertainties to SOS, use your supervisors and trust the process. The course will not give you answers, but it will teach you to stay curious when there are none.”
