Francesca Benjamin

Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist

Francesca Benjamin is a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. Francesca initially undertook an MSc in Psychoanalytic Developmental Psychology at the Anna Freud Centre, before later embarking on the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy training at the Tavistock and Portman.

Prior to training, Francesca worked for many years as a music teacher alongside children and adolescents with special educational needs, and emotional and behavioural difficulties. Francesca later took up a number of roles in social care with families and young people, working with those experiencing mental health issues, family breakdown, and the care system.

Since becoming a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, Francesca has continued to work both in the NHS and in private practice, and has also been involved in other courses in the Trust, as a work discussion group leader, tutor and clinical supervisor. Francesca has a particular interest in the application of psychoanalytic ideas to those working with families and children in a range of frontline mental health roles, and in the implementation of psychotherapeutic work in schools and other educational provisions.
